Oh dear...the massively burning question on my mind (and all fellow nerds, I'm sure) is just what do those babies WEIGH??!! I need specifics here, please, and I will be uneasy and disoriented until I get them.
And I was wondering about the whole double yolk = twins thing just the other day. Does that really happen? I've never heard of twin chicks.
I read on the BYC forum awhile back that someone had hatched out twins from a double yolker. One had an issue though.....so I'm not sure if they always come out healthy and strong.
Wanna see another way to make that doallr disappear?
Turn your back...... :)
As a Mama of twins I'd just love to see a set of twins born from a double yolker.
I don't see why they couldn't happen if fertilized. My only concern would be the lack of space in the egg. The chicks would probably be tinier and may even have other health issues due to being compressed so tightly.
Congrats on the double yolkers. IN the beginning we were getting double and triple yolkers almost every day. It was so exciting!
But it petered out and we haven't seen one for months.
farmgirl: I have no idea how much they weigh, but they taste good :) I guess I could take one over to Angie's and have it weighed. But those 2 have been consumed. Sorry for causing you stress. But if the hen continues to lay these giants in the spring, I will make sure that they are nested to see about twin chicks. Thanks Ang. HA HA Lisa, ...HEY WHERE'S MY DOLLAR BILL....."LISA"!?! I guess I better go see if my hens still there....;)
Beware the Irishman. For he will fill your belly with strong drink, and your ears full of Blarney, he will tell you all of the woes of his life, and keep you out 'til late in the morning.
I have been happily married for 39 years, to the love of my life. We live quietly on a five acre family plot. We have 3 wonderful children who are now out of the house. Our oldest daughter has provided us with 2 beautiful grandchildren and our son with 1. We also have 2 LARGE dogs and 3 cats to keep us busy. Sometimes it's a zoo around here.
We are suppose to be in our "Golden Years" but they have turned to RUST!
I have Post Polio Syndrome. It has left me with a leg that just quits on me whenever it feels like it, muscles that tire easily, arthritis and degenerative disc disease in my spine, which causes me daily aches and pains that I have come to learn to live with, and a brain that gets confused very easily, forgets things quickly and doesn't allow me to do some of my old hobbies or read well. My wife has Fibro-Myalgia and suffers through it's daily pains and has Cronic Fatigue Syndrome too. She too is unable to work.
I dedicate this blog to my children and grandchildren, so that they may read some of my childhood memories, before I forget them all.
