That's Gratitude For Ya

Last night when we went to take care of the animals, Wifey got the bright idea to clean out the rabbit pens. She wanted to put down fresh straw so the Bun-Bun's would have a nice warm and dry bedding for the upcoming night in the teens temps. Our 2 doe's live in a cage with a front entrance, so Wifey dove in head first to pull out all of the old wet bedding.
Now this took many repeats, and the rabitts were getting more agitated every time. She was almost done when one of the bunnies jumped over her arm and crawled under her armpit, ending up right in front of her face. She stopped what she was doing to talk face to face with the bunny. When all of a sudden it turned around and let fly with a spray of urine.


Dinner is at 6pm and anyone who likes rabbit stew is invited.


Actually it was only a threat. The rabbits are all ok. At least for now. But Wifey was upset to say the least. Our four bucks gave her no trouble, but at least their cage has a top lid for access.
Just another lesson, down on the farm.

Chicken Chickens

Our free-range chickens don't seem to like snow. When it was just a dusting of snow it didn't even phase them, but now that the ground is covered it's a whole new story.



They wouldn't even come out of the coop until Wifey shoveled their run.



Our brave rooster wouldn't even attempt coming out of the run.



He just kept trying to force the hens out.



Finally one of the Grey Leghorns took it upon herself to give it a try, so he HAD to come out to show his bravery, but then ducked right back inside.



Some of the other grey leghorn's joined the first one and they had the whole 5 aces to themselves, and took advantage of a few clear spots to get in some greens.

The rest of the flock just watched from the safety of the run and missed out!
