Turkey Day & Aden's 5th Bday Party

Due to my being a klutz (a gallon of water dropped from 3 feet covers an area of 1 3/4 times the length of your mop reach in all directions), and the side of a cardboard box full of canned goods we were taking to share with our children breaking, we were just a little late for the beginning of dinner. Do you know how far and how high the splatter is from just one quart jar of canned tomatoes dropped from the height of 3 feet???

I do! And it's NOT a pretty sight either!

And the combination of Hot Pickle and Sweet Pickle juice is toxic, and tomato juice doesn't do a thing to help it either! Luckily the jar of pickled red beets stayed intact or I'd still be cleaning that up. Out of a box of 12 assorted jars only 3 broke. What Luck!

But anyway we made it over to Angie & Eric's before dinner was over. As usual Ang put on a terrific spread. Her heritage breed turkey was fan-tastic (Wifey says we are definetly raising our own turkeys next year). She also introduced us to 2 side dishes that are now MY favorites, mushroom risotto and corn casserole (similar to my own escallopped corn but MUCH better). You will have to ask her for the recipes.

The jar of hot pickles hardly hit the table and my daughter Sarah was all over it.

My son-in-law Eric, my son Eric and daughter Sarah. She REALLY likes my hot pickles.

They were just a little warm.

After dinner the clean up crew got started.

Ginger was a lot of help too!

Careful Aden.

Dad got to do the larger things.

Aden's birthday isn't until Monday but we celebrated it early. Aunt Sarah decorated her a worm cake she requested from her Mom. It needed a few more candies to finish the face.

Hey, when are we goin' to eat my cake, it's my Birthday yunno!

After many alterations to redo the face and candle placement that the kids had rearranged, it was finally time!

One of her presents was a very pretty hat given to her by Uncle Eric and Aunt Andrea.

We all got to try it on.... Wifey & Me....
But Daddy didn't want to give it back.

I got in a little play time with my grandkids, Aden and Ethan.

And Grandma got to help Ethan search for objects in a "Where's Waldo" type book.
All in all, we had a terrific time and a wonderful Thanksgiving Celebration.
Thank You Angie and Eric.

I am not so sure that pink is your color. I am not much of a judge...but I think it clashes with your beard!

I know what else you were missing in your spill to make it even more fun...a quart of honey! Better luck next time!

Wow she did put out quite a spread, I figured she would. We ate one of the turkeys we raised although it was not heritage it was still a great hit.
Your grandkids are cute and so lucky to have you!

Oh....I *love* this post...the pictures are wonderful. Sigh, I almost felt like I was there with all of you, too. (And...I totally SEE you, Agnes, in the reflection of the window in that one picture - you are gorgeous!!)

What a fun and special night for everyone - it was so cool to "meet" everyone. And I would really like to try some of those pickles. :-)

p.s. Finally, a picture of beautiful Mrs. GreyWolf! Her smile when she was wearing the hat made *me* smile!

Warren: How about if I dye my beard pink?? Do you think it will it would be OK then? I was told that gray went with everything when I had all of my hair dyed the last time.

And I would NEVER drop honey. I like it too much to waste a single drop.

Hi Kim: I don't know what type of turkey we will raise but Angie's did so well that we want to give it a try. I was always under the impression that they were hard to raise. My wife wants to raise some of the larger broad breasted turkeys but also likes the ones that Ang raised so we will probably get both. I guess it will depend on how large of a barn I can build in the spring ;)

Thank you for the compliment. And the grandkids are a joy and we are lucky to have them.
My son and his wife just informed us Saturday that they are pregnant, so we are looking forward to a late July/early August bundle of joy from them. Triple the fun!!!

Danni: I never even noticed that reflection in the photo. Now I'm going to be in TROUBLE. I promised Agnes that I wouldn't put any photos of her on my blog.
And SHHHHH Mrs. Greywolf doesn't know I posted her photo yet!!!

Ok she does, but she wouldn't let me post the one that I liked. (see me pouting here) :{

Out of 82 photos I only posted a few in case Ang planned on posting some. I didn't want to steal all of her pressious moments.

Email me your address and I'll send you a jar. The hot pickles right?

Yep. totally saw Agnes in the window. I see you Agnes. Look how pretty you are. Those lovely golden locks!!

I think that hat should get sent to Dorothy and I and we can take our pictures in it, too.....

Loved seeing you and the Mrs. Greywolf. Such a great smiles.

Ok, you ladies are saying you can see her in the window just to drive me loony(er). I can't see didly.

How awful to lose all that food! I had turkey that my dad raised this year and want some turkeys too.

Yeah, I see it too. I knew he'd sneak something in somehow. Mischevious old bear. No wonder you're Ethan's favorite...two peas!! LOL ;)

Just as long as yuo make room in that barn you're building for the goats, I'm good! :)

Poor sugarcreekstuff. We should really help her, don't you think?

(Third picture down, honey, try to unfocus your eyes a bit and look *between* the two people the photographer was trying to photograph) It's magic! :-)

Greywolf, why don't you dye your beard pink and post it. I'll let you know how it looks then. It's hard to say at this point, but I'd tend to think it would look great!!

Hey Maude: I think your right about the hat, but we may have to wait until Aden looses intrest in it first.

Agnes: GOATS?? What goats???

warren: I'm searching for a good color dye right now.
